Networking & Professional Development Events
We will be holding bi-monthly networking events to continue to keep our SHPE familia together in fun, professional networking atmospheres.
We also hold Professional Development events twice a year to provide professionals an opportunity to learn more about technical concepts in other local industries or strategies to advance their career.
Our next networking event will be held March 28, 2013 downtown Minneapolis - We will be starting the evening with a professional development seminar from 5:00-6:00pm at Target HQ in downtown Minneapolis (1000 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis). After the professional development event, our chapter will be hosting a networking event at Brits Pub in Downtown Minneapolis from 6:00pm-7pm (1110 Nicollet Mall Minneapolis). SHPE National Conference
The SHPE Conference is the major annual event for the SHPE and is the largest technical and career conference for Hispanics in the country. Each year, the SHPE Conference attracts nearly 5,000 engineering professionals, students and corporate representatives. This year, the SHPE Conference will be held October 30 - November 3, 2013 in Indianapolis, IN. SHPE-TC will provide monetary assistance to registered SHPE-TC members to attend the conference (please email president@shpetwincities.org if interested). SHPE National Institute for Leadership Advancement (NILA)
NILA is SHPE's premier leadership training program for chapter executive board members.This year's NILA will be held July 31 - Aug 4, 2013 in Denver, CO. NILA accelerates professional growth and trains attendees to be an effective leader within SHPE and their own professional life and career. Attendees can expect to:
SHPE-TC End of Year Gala
At the end of every SHPE year (April/May), SHPE-Twin Cities hosts a large gala in celebration of the work accomplished by the various SHPE chapters in the Twin Cities (corporate chapters, college chapters and high school/SHPE Jr. chapters). We also celebrate the success of our members and accomplishments of local high school and college students by giving out awards and scholarships.
SHPE-TC Holiday Event
SHPE-Twin Cities hosts a large post-holiday networking with the local SHPE familia every year. This event will occur at Dave & Busters in Maple grove January 2013.
