The SHPE Twin Cities (SHPE-TC) Sciences and Educational Programs are dedicated to fostering excellence in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and career pathways. By addressing the persistent underrepresentation of Latinos/Hispanics in STEM fields, we empower students to dream big, overcome challenges, and make lasting impacts in their industries.
Our mission goes beyond simply promoting STEM; we aim to build a supportive ecosystem for students and their families, ensuring they have the resources, mentorship, and inspiration to succeed. Through innovative programs and community engagement, we are shaping the next generation of STEM leaders.
Our Signature Programs:
  • Noche de Ciencias (Science Night):
A family-friendly event that sparks curiosity and excitement for STEM. Students explore various STEM fields through hands-on activities and engaging demonstrations, while parents learn about the importance of STEM education and the pathways to success for their children.
  • Equipando Padres (Equipping Parents):
A workshop tailored for parents, providing them with the knowledge and tools to support their children’s journey in STEM education. This program empowers families to navigate the educational system, scholarships, and career opportunities in STEM fields.
  • STEM Promotion:
Bringing the world of STEM directly to high schools, we work with students to inspire their interest and confidence in pursuing STEM careers. Through workshops, presentations, and collaborations with educators, we make STEM accessible and relatable for young minds.
  • Mentorship Program:
Connecting college students with STEM professionals, our mentorship program provides guidance, networking opportunities, and support as students transition from academia to the professional world. By fostering these relationships, we help students build a strong foundation for success in STEM careers.
Why Our Work Matters:
Latinos/Hispanics remain significantly underrepresented in STEM careers, despite their growing presence in the population. This lack of representation limits innovation and diversity in industries critical to our future. At SHPE-TC, we are committed to breaking down barriers, creating opportunities, and ensuring that Latino/Hispanic students can thrive and lead in STEM fields.
Join us in advancing our mission to build a brighter, more inclusive future in STEM. Together, we can inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of innovators
